Reformed Studies - the presentations are complete.  Students did a great job connecting the verses, with their meaning and how they connect to the 10 commandments.

Communicating Skills - Ex 24 - conjunctions

ELA - since the students asked soooo nicely I have decided to extend the due date for the Bronze Bow assignment to Monday, Nov 30, but there will  be bonus marks for anyone who has worked extremely hard to complete it for Thursday, Nov 26 the original due date.

Study Skills - Taking Charge of Homework

Science - finished up Fluid Movement in Animals and Humans and the Digestive System.  Hwk p.67#2, 6-8; p. 69#1-6

Monday, November 23

Reformed Studies - presentations are happening now.

Math - about half the students did not get 70% on their math test last Friday.  They will have to re-write these tests unless they show me the study sheets they used to study from.  They can also re-write and increase their mark since I take an average of the two tests.  We have also begun patterns and algebra now so homework is p 92-94.

ELA - reviewed definitions for vocab test on Thursday, Nov 26, work on Bronze Bow assignment.  Only 1 more class period left to work on this.  You must work at home.

Science - started looking at fluid movement in Humans and animals.  Hwk p. 67#1,3,4

Vocab words for tomorrow (Sorry this is late) - devious, begrudge, uncanny, projections, betrayed, crevice, routed, jibes (gibes), dismay, packet, groped, betrothed, conferring, treacherously, halfhearted

Reformed Studies - worked on Lesson 1: Sermon on Mount presentation.  Tomorrow will be the last day to prepare.  Some students will have to do some written preparation tonight in order to type it tomorrow and be ready to present on Monday.

French - quiz Monday on futur proche

Math - p. 91 review, test tomorrow on Lessons 34-57

ELA - reviewed the vocab words for tomorrow, work on Bronze Bow assignment

Friday, Nov 20

PE - basketball, need to have PE clothes and proper running shoes

IA this morning

Choir - the songs are sounding really nice.  Grade 8s do need to sing out a bit more clearly though :)

Study Skills - students were taught about organizational skills, filling in a calendar to see what needs doing and being able to prioritize what needs doing.

Science - introduction to the immune system

Reformed Studies - students worked on their Unit 2 assignments and were introduced to the first assignment for Unit 3 Middle Period of Christ's Ministry

Math - p. 90, doing at least 3 questions from each row.  Test Friday

ELA - working on Bronze Bow assignment due Thurs Nov 26

Science - looked at the efficiency of smaller vs larger cells and the importance of cell specialization.  Hwk p. 49#1-7

Reformed Studies - last day for in class work on Unit 1 Assignment.  The assignment is due on Friday, Nov 20, but if it is handed in earlier there will be bonus marks if it is done completely and fully.  Please make sure you have been very specific about using the lessons we learned in this unit.

Math - long division.  P. 87, students must pick at least 5 questions from question 10 to do completely.

ELA - worked on Bronze Bow assignment

Health - Physical Activities Injuries.  Our first unit is now complete so next week we will have review and the following week a test.

Social Studies - students received their tests for unit 1.  Only a few must re-write.  Students can now take all the notes for unit 1: Worldviews out of their binder, unless they must re-write.

Science - unicellular organisms.  Hwk p. 45 #1-8.  Many students are not completing their homework.  This is due for Monday.

Reformed Studies - students must have their notes completed for their assignment.  Tomorrow they will work on putting them into a brochure which must be handed in on Monday, Nov 16.

Math - p. 80-83.  These can be very confusing pages if the students do not carefully read the question and make sure which number you are multiplying by.

ELA - working on the Bronze Bow written assignment now.  This assignment is due Thurs, Nov 26.

Tuesday, Nov 11 is Red and White Day.  Students are to wear something red and white and encouraged to bring donations for the Adoration School Library in Haiti.

Reformed Studies - finished the last lesson of Beginning Period of Christ's Ministry.  Students must complete Q 1,2 of Lesson 16.  Students have also been given the topic they must work on for the final assignment for this unit.  Tuesday they will be collecting their notes on this topic and Thursday and Friday putting it into their creative assignment form.  The assignment is due Monday, Nov 16.

Math - multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 p. 77-79

ELA - finished reading The Bronze Bow.  New vocab words given for Nov 20: devious, begrudge, uncanny, projections, betrayed, crevice, routed, jibes, dismay, packet, groped, betrothed, conferring, treacherously, halfhearted

Social Studies - finished looking at the double Worldviews of Greco-Roman vs Judeo-Christian.  Students are to make a study sheet for the whole unit which they may use to answer a review sheet tomorrow.  If the study sheet is not enough then they have not completed the sheet well enough and will have to add to it.

Reformed Studies - Lesson 15 Q 1-4 students MUST show proof that they have read all the verses or confessions the questions point to.

Math - multiplying decimals by 10, 100, 1000.  P. 75, 76

Communicating Skills - Ex 22 specific nouns

Study Skills - we discusses what good group work is like, using everyone's strengths and working with everyone's weaknesses.  More important to look to the needs of the group and not the selfish me.

Social Studies - summarizing the Worldviews unit by defining history and looking at quotes and two views of worldviews.  Read the 2 worldviews of Greek/Roman vs Jews/Christians and answer the questions.

Reformed Studies - Lesson 13 Q1-3.  Students must write in their answers words to show that they have read the applicable texts.

Math - P. 71-74  rounding.  Quiz on Wed on Lessons 34-45

ELA - read to the end of chapter 19.  Added the following words to the vocabulary list for Friday, Nov 6:defrauded, garnered, swarthy, flaunted, pilfered.

Science - returned the Cell parts quizzes and a few students will have to re-write this quiz.  Today we looked at cells and cell system and homework is found on p. 41 Q 1-5.  Lab on osmosis is due on Thursday, Nov 5.

Please don't forget mission money $13 / student, 8 students still have to bring in their money :)
