Reformed Studies - Lesson 12 Q 1,2.  Remember, the more you write in answering these questions, the easier your unit assignment will be.

Math - Adding / Subtracting decimals making sure to keep the decimals lined up.  P. 67-70.  Quiz on lessons 34-45 on Wednesday, Nov 4.

Communicating Skills - Ex 21 p. 24

Vocab Words - accomplished, interfere, caressing, aspect, brooch, extravagant, baffled, scrutiny, humiliation, alabaster, junction.  There will be a few more coming this week yet.

Science - worked on the Osmosis Lab.  This lab is due on Thursday, Nov 5 and must be typed out.

Students should remember to bring a USB drive to and from school so they can save their work in order to work on it at home.

Reformed Studies - Lesson 11 Q1 a,b

Math - fractions and decimals greater than 1, written as mixed numbers.  P. 59-62

Communicating Skills - Ex 18 p.20 - linking verbs

Study Skills - students are to make study sheets for Social Studies and Science since we are coming close to the end of the units in each.  Social Studies will be first.  Students should especially look for words and their definitions.

ELA - students have not been defining the vocabulary words very well so today was a day to reinforce those meanings by making sure that each student has the correct meaning as it relates to the novel.  Therefore students are asked to write out the sentence in the novel that contains the vocabulary word.  This can be written in the box labelled "diagram" on their vocabulary sheets in their duotangs.

Reformed Studies - took up questions from L8.  Lesson 9 John 3:1-21 and do questions 1-3

Math - decimals are fractions. P. 55-58

Memory work - text John 1:4-14 due today

Social Studies - read note on Ancient Civilizations and Primary and Secondary Sources.  Fill in the handout comparing and contrasting the two sources.  Fill in the Vocabulary Circle.

Science - lab on Osmosis.

Reformed Studies - Looking at Jesus' miracles to see how it spreads knowledge of Jesus and His glory.  How can we spread His glory in our lives?  Look for Evidences of God's Grace (EGGs) in your lives and talk about them, also responding positively when someone does speak about them.  L8 Q1-3

Math test - many students needed lots of encouragement and reminders.

Vocabulary test - students need to study more carefully.

Health - we looked at how to plan a personal activity program and students have to have 6 SMART goals written, one for each of the following areas: academic, social, sports & exercise, family & community, hobbies & interests, and long-term goals keeping in mind how to balance all of them so that they are honouring God.

Reformed Studies - Lesson 7: John 1:19-51 Q 1-3

Math - make a study sheet and work on pages 53, 54 to review as well as try a word problem on p. 52.  Steps to doing word problems:

  1. Write what you know in a way that is easy to change to a math statement.
  2. Write what you need to know.
  3. Write a math statement.
  4. Figure out the math.
  5. Write a therefore statement.
ELA - read to end of chapter 14, do the vocab definitions and sentences

Science - we learned about diffusion and osmosis today.  Students should have p. 29 #1-5 done for Monday and will work on p. 33#1-7 in class on Monday as we work through a lab on osmosis.

Reformed Studies - Lesson 6 Q 1-3.  Some students are not doing their homework :(

Math - word problems.  Try a few on pages 51, 52.  Be sure to write what you know and at least the math statement you will have to work out, even if you do not have the time to actually figure out the answer.
